NovaraJazz 2006
NovaraJazz 2006 finally becomes a real festival. It opens with the absolute first show of “Trovesi all’Opera” with Gianluigi Trovesi and the Orchestra Fiati Filarmonica Mousiké, an orchestra of 60 components. The project is considered the most important record of Italian jazz in 2006. The saxophonist Dave S. Ware with students of Novara’s Conservatory are the protagonists of the annual artistic residence. Matthew Shipp comes back to Novara and the first NovaraJazz production was created with Stan Tracey, an extraordinary eighty-year-old pianist, and the fiery and snappy Louis Moholo. NovaraJazz hosts the first Italian show of Nik Bartsch as a leader of the fine Ronin quintet and it introduces great performances at Coccia Theater with the World Saxophone Quartet and “Monk’s Casino” by Alexander von Schlippenbach. Music spreads around the city with the reflections about Jazz of Jelly Roll Morton and electronic music of Adam Butler, a.k.a. VERT. Butler collected and remixed the sounds of the festival by making a record.
